Plan Detail — Overview Tab
04 — Plan Detail

Three tabs, zero manual data entry

Plan Detail is populated entirely from your route, profile, and planning decisions. The overview computes totals automatically. The checklist generates items based on terrain, altitude, and duration. No copy-paste, no spreadsheets.

Trip statistics computed from route
Total distance, elevation gain, peak altitude, and risk classification are derived directly from ORS route geometry.
Edit name and notes
Rename the expedition and add a trip description from the overview header. Changes persist immediately without leaving the screen.
GPX export and Route Card
Export your full route as a GPX file for any GPS device, or generate a printable route card with stage-by-stage waypoint data.

Tab 1 — Overview

The expedition at a glance

The Overview tab shows trip-wide statistics, complexity rating, risk assessment, terrain type, and quick actions — all computed automatically from your route and profile.

01
Trip statistics
Total distance (km or miles), cumulative elevation gain and loss, expedition duration in days, and peak altitude — all derived from ORS geometry.
02
Complexity rating
Easy / Intermediate / Demanding / Extreme classification appears as a coloured badge. Tap the badge to see the exact factors that drove the rating.
03
Route export
Export the full route as a .gpx file compatible with Garmin, Suunto, and other GPS devices. The file includes all waypoints and the computed route polyline.
04
Trip status
Draft, Ready, Active, and Completed. The status updates automatically when you start and end the expedition in Active Trip mode.

Tab 2 — Stages

Day-by-day stage breakdown

The Stages tab presents each stage with full detail: day type, waypoints, distance, elevation profile, estimated timing, and any complexity flags for that day.

Point A
Stage accordion
Each stage is an expandable card. Collapsed state shows the key metrics. Expanded shows the full elevation chart, waypoint names, and notes field.
Point B
Day Wizard access
Tap the edit icon on any stage card to open the Day Wizard — a focused modal to change destination, day type, departure time, and custom notes.
Point C
Acclimatization flags
Stages that gain more than 500m above your previous highest point are flagged with an acclimatization advisory and a suggested rest recommendation.

Tab 3 — Pre-Trip Checklist

Auto-generated departure checklist

The Checklist tab generates a pre-departure task list from your route, terrain, altitude, and duration. No template to fill out — items appear automatically based on what your expedition requires.

01
Context-aware items
A 7-day alpine route above 4,000m generates different checklist items than a 3-day lowland trek. Navigation items, altitude medication, and emergency protocol items appear only when relevant.
02
Category grouping
Items are grouped by category: Navigation, Safety, Health, Permits, Communication, Emergency. Toggle categories to focus on what's incomplete.
03
Check off & custom items
Tap any item to mark it complete. Add custom items specific to your trip that the system can't know about — they persist with the expedition.
04
Completion indicator
The tab badge shows percentage complete (e.g. 12/18 items). The overview tab also shows a checklist completion bar as part of trip readiness.
